UKES have the complete project management toolbox and skill set to enable us to ensure our clients complete projects on time, within budget and to the specified scope

The first step is to define the project objectives. This may come from a sales forecast determining volume and product mix. UKES would typically take this data and develop a Masterplan with key client personnel. The Masterplan would determine equipment utility and space requirements. It can provide the first indication of costs and timescale.

The second step is to develop the project execution strategy. This may involve  the following types of decisions:

  • Extension to Existing Site or New Greenfield Location
  • Phasing of Investment
  • Type of Construction and Procurement Routes
  • Management Structure - Project Team Members
  • Project Management Controls

The third step is project implementation. The success of implementation is largely dependant on the accuracy of the developed original project plan. During Project Implementation the following are key items to be considered:

  • Project Change Procedures are clearly established. (Typical reason for financial overuns and time extensions)
  • Project Integration between work packages and Vendor Tracking.
  • Risk Assessment to ensure that management concentrate on key parameters that will lead to success.
  • Project Monitoring and Control: Cost, Time and Scope
  • Construction Management (including the management of Health and Safety)
  • Project Communications
  • Performance Testing of the Project Scope

It is essential to have good communications on a project. UKES work closely with their clients' representatives to ensure that the Client is constantly aware of progress, issues or matters arising, which require strategic management decisions. UKES have developed performance guarantee specifications that certifies to  the client that the project objectives have been met.
